Update: 7/15/2008: Right now I don't actually have a critical listening system up and running. I'm really more into the HT stuff these days. I did however buy a Primare Pre-30 two channel pre-amp awhile back and have not even plugged it in or turned it on much less set up a two channel system. I will get around to this eventually however and will post something at that time.
The critical listening system is in a transition state right now.

The new dipoles using Seas drivers except the woofers which are Dayton Reference Series 12" Hi-Fi will replace the Linkwitzlab Orion. The amplification is also being replaced in an effort to avoid installing a dedicated AC service just for this system. All the Usher class A amplifiers were just going to suck too much power off the line. It was actually pulling down the AC voltage when used on a single 20 amp outlet. I've decided on the Anthem Statement P2 amplifier to drive the 2-ohm load of the parallel 12" woofers. This amplifier is class A/B and draws only 140 watts off the line at idle compared with 400 watts by the Usher R-2.5. I would like to stay class A on the rest of the speaker but I haven't decided on amplification for this yet. For the time being I will use three of the Usher R-1.5's along with the P2 when it arrives. (It's on order from A&B TV here in Austin, TX) I may try the Anthem MCA-30. While it is also class A/B, I know the Anthem products to be very good products so I might get a couple of them and see how they do.
