Interested in knowing what you are looking at here? Put
simply, you put one tone into the speaker it should play one tone back to you.
In most of the distortion test I'm using a modulated tone as described on
linkwitzlab but in the two
measurements above it is a pure tome. Compare the results of the
Scanspeak tweeter with the Hi-Vi. The vast difference in the quality of
these two tweeters make for easy viewing of the good vs. the bad.
Note that in the Scanspeak data you see a peak for the input tone and very
little harmonic tones. Note that in the Hi-Vi data you see a lot of
harmonic tones. Now I know some may like the sound of the
Hi-Vi Planar tweeters but the above is a visual of what you are listening to.
Listening to the RT2's reminded me of that old Saturday Night Live
skit...Remember the one..."yeah, I hate when that happens"...Last night I was
taking some spikes and driving them into my ears with a hammer....and then I was
listening to my RT2's...yeah I hate when that happens!
More tweeter data to come...
